When the team from butcher to the royals, Donald Russell, got in touch adn said they had some perfect BBQ recipe marinade ideas for us we sat up and took notice.

To mark the launch of this seasons mail order butcher packages from royal warrant holder Donald Russell the team has also given us head chef Stefan Kolsch’s favourite BBQ Recipe marinades.

What is more, these are all really simple BBQ marinade ideas that take just a few minutes to prepare.

Simple Chinese BBQ Marinade:

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tbsp Hoisin Sauce

1 tbsp Chinese 5-spice

2 tbsp rice wine or sherry

Simple BBQ Marinade

1 clove garlic crushed

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp tomato ketchup

1 tbsp honey

1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

1 tsp Tobasco Sauce

Simple Honey Chilli Marinade

2 tbsp runny honey

2 tbsp light soy sauce

2 red chillies finely chopped

How to make

With each of the above recipes, just mix all the ingredients in a bowl and then rub over your meat and leave to marinade over night, or at least for one hour.

Those lovely people at Dalepak don’t realise how much they have helped the iLoveMyBBQ.com team, and also you lucky readers. For some time now we have been trying to draw up a list of the public places where you can have a BBQ. One of the most frequent questions we get is “where and in which public places, beaches and parks in the UK can we hold a BBQ”.

The amount of hassle and ringing around that this has caused has been endless as it seems no one at the various local councils who we spoke to really knew if BBQ’s were allowed or not. Then, like a knight in Shining (frozen meat coloured) armour, Dalepak ride in to rescue us.

6. Newbold Comyn, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

300 acre park with ots own free BBQ’s, all you need is your charcoal!

7. Eastville Park, Eastville, Bristol

A famous Victorian park where portable BBQ’s are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground and put out with a bucket of water.

8. Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Waterlooville, Hampshire

Hampshire’s biggest country park with 20 miles of trails. Eleven family BBQ’s and four party BBQ’s for up to 40 people are available to hire by calling 023 9259 5040. Note, portable BBQ’s are not allowed.

9. Lepe Country Park, Exbury, Southampton

Set in the glorious New Forest, whislt portable BBQ’s are not allowed there are BBQ site available to hire that can cater for up to 60. Call 023 8089 9108 to book a BBQ.

The Family About to Get their Burgers

Let’s face it, money is tight across the UK and this is undoubtedly having an effect on the size of the UK BBQ economy as people look for affordable ways to enjoy a Barbecue treat during the summer.

Here at iLoveMyBBQ.com we are keen to find ways to help you save money and so we have come up with a fun recipe for BBQ Beef Burgers that won’t cost the earth, and better still barbecue burgers are so easy to make that all the family can get involved.

To make around 8 you will need:

500g Mince Beef

3 x medium onions

1 x egg white

Small bunch of Mint (optional)

Spices or Herbs of your choice (not compulsory).

Bread Rolls

Cheese Slices (optional)

Step By Step Guide to Cooking your Home-made BBQ Burgers

1. Finely dice your onions and place to one side

2. If you are using Mint, finely chop it all up and put to one side

3. Put your mince into a bowl along with the mint, egg white, onions and any herbs or spices you are using. I add a tablespoon of chilli powder to ours.

4. Bring on the kids! – Everything needs mixing together into a nice gooey mixture

5. If you want to make 8 burgers you will need to split the mixture into 8 balls

6. Bring back the kids and get them to take the balls of mixture and flatten them out – really flatten them as they shrink when being cooked and you end up with 8 tiny meat balls!

7. Place them on a plate or wire rack and leave to firm up in the fridge for at least an hour.

To Cook

Your burgers could not be easier to cook. Even easier if you are using baskets to cook with – we recommend the use of baskets when BBQ’ing – so much easier!

They will probably need around 10 minutes per side to be safe. When your BBQ Burgers are nearly cooked why not pop your buns on the grill as well so that you can toast them.

We always have a slice of cheese, some watercress or rocket and Levi Roots New Tomato Sauce with ours! Awesome.
